Crisis Coverage

  • Built in2014 at Harvard Extension School

A Harvard Extension School project with 2 colleagues. We tried to find any correlation between the life of a major crisis in the world with its media coverage (traditional, non-traditional, and media/blog). The motivation was to help the effort to use big data to respond better to crises.

The toughest part was finding good data. We used the google API to scrape search results from hand-picked news providers. I was in charge of the timeline view, along with the overall site structure and construction.
